Ways Parents Can Help a Troop

Troop Committee – A Troop Committee is an adult network, a TEAM consisting of all the girls’ parents/guardians that provides the troop with the special kind of help it needs. The purpose of the Troop Committee is to divide the work into easily managed tasks. This gives the leaders and co-leaders the ability to focus their time, energy and expertise on working directly with the girls.

Troop Cookie Manager: (Jan. – Feb.) Takes training, distributes forms & cookies, collects, money, keeps records, sends payments and reports when due.

QSP (Magazine/Nut Sale): (Oct. –Nov.) Takes training, distributes packets, follows up, collects money, & sends payments and reports when due.

First Aider: Holder of a current First Aid/CPR Certificate (RN, Dr., EMT) or a desire to get certification. Accompanies girls on trips. Training available.

Troop Camping Certified Adult: Takes training, prepares girls, accompanies troop on camping and overnight trips.

Communication Coordinator: Contacts other parents with troop information or transportation needs.

Refreshment Coordinator: Contacts parents to remind them of their “snack & stay” responsibilities.

Family Share Coordinator: (Nov. – Dec.) Takes training, distributes information and does follow-up work with troop parents concerning Family Share program.

Trip Coordinator: Organizes troop trips, sends and collects permission slips and money.

Shopper: Assists Troop Leader by shopping for supplies.

Attend Service Unit Leader meetings and relay information to leader. Meetings are usually once a month in the evening.
